Well drilling and well pump services around Kannapolis, NC.

New water wells

Residential water wells are where the family started, three generations back. A new well in this part of North Carolina begins with a county permit and a site evaluation, then drills through red clay and weathered rock, sets and seals steel casing into solid rock, and keeps drilling until the rock gives up enough water for the house. Once the well is finished, the county samples it.

  • Drilled wells for new homes
  • Replacement wells
  • Steel casing seated in rock
  • Grouted, sealed wellheads
  • Help with the county permit
  • Pump and tank set-up

Irrigation wells

Irrigation wells are one of the four services on their own home page. A separate irrigation well keeps lawn and garden watering off your household well or city meter. It’s sized for the zones it has to run, and in North Carolina it still needs the county’s well permit.

  • Lawn and garden wells
  • Farm and livestock water
  • Pump sized to the zones
  • Permit and setbacks handled
  • Pump repair on existing irrigation wells

Well pump repair

In their own words, “most of the work we do here at Wright Well & Pump is pump repair and maintenance.” Pumps usually fade before they fail: lower pressure, air or sand in the water, odd noises, or a power bill creeping up with no change at home. They find whether it’s the pump, the switch, the tank, the wiring or the well, and fix that.

  • Submersible well pumps
  • Jet pumps
  • No-water calls
  • Low pressure and sputtering
  • Pressure switches and controls
  • Pump replacement

Pressure tanks and switches

The pressure tank holds a cushion of water so the pump doesn’t start every time a tap opens. When its bladder fails or the air charge is lost, the pump short-cycles, which wears it out early. Checking the tank is part of every pump call.

  • Pressure tank replacement
  • Air charge checks
  • Pressure switch replacement
  • Gauges, valves and fittings
  • Short-cycling diagnosis

Water treatment

Water treatments are one of the four services on their home page. Piedmont well water is often a little acidic and can carry iron and manganese; some wells need more. The right equipment depends on what a test actually finds, so treatment starts with the water, not a sales sheet.

  • Iron and manganese
  • Acidic water (low pH)
  • Sediment
  • Odor and taste problems
  • Treatment matched to a lab test

Well checks, repair and winter prep

They recommend, with the National Ground Water Association, having a well tested and maintained at least once a year. Danny Wright’s state certification lists well repair and abandonment and down-hole camera work among his services. Before winter they’ll come out and get a well house ready: sealed, insulated and kept warm enough that nothing freezes.

  • Annual well check-ups
  • Down-hole camera inspection
  • Well repair
  • Proper well abandonment
  • Well-house winter prep
  • Storm-damage checks

WaterSafety first

No water? Check one thing, then call.

Check the well pump’s breaker. If it has tripped, reset it once; if it trips again, leave it off and call (704) 933-9040. Never open the pressure switch, the pump control box or the wellhead wiring: they’re live at 240 volts.
